Peace has come to Sudan... how will it be sustained?
The people of Sudan have suffered through a brutal 21 year civil war and have secured a hard-won peace. The churches and communities desperately want this peace to hold, yet:
People who have been traumatized often get caught up in a circle of violence.
Ethnic tensions that have not been resolved through reconciliation erupt into active conflict.
Citizens who do not understand the principles of good governance, democracy and human rights are ill-equipped to participate in a representative government.
The wounds of trauma must be healed. Reconciliation must take place. Civic education must be facilitated. The churches of Sudan believe that they are called to do everything in their power to address these needs.Therefore, they created RECONCILE:
